Words are invented to describe things that exist. They are, fundamentally, a layer of abstraction. To describe something is to select certain qualities from it, never all of them, and communicate those to others. What cannot be captured is lost. In this way, language is corrosive to reality: the more complex the idea, the more words required, and the further we drift from truth.
