“You are not your job, you’re not how much money you have in the bank. You are not the car you drive. You’re not the contents of your wallet. You are not your fucking khakis. You are all singing, all dancing crap of the world.”
Tyler Durden in Fight Club tells this directly to the audience. He reminds them that their possessions, all the things they own and desire to own, are not them. The audience, as people, are more than their capitalist desire to consume and they are allowing this distraction to ruin their life.
