There is a 1991 lecture by John Cleese of Monty Python on creativity in which he lists the 5 key factors for creativity:
- Space
- Time
- Time
- Confidence
- A 22 inch waist
Now, while this is obviously comedic, there is a lot of truth here. The three most important factors are Space and Time, Time being so important that it receives two spots.
You need space away from people and distractions and stressors to think deeply and originally, as well as time to destress, take in experiences and knowledge and formula new ideas.
