Increased individualism encourages people to create their own system of values and hierarchy of beliefs. This is incredibly difficult to do well and requires a high level of focus, effort, and life experience. Those with out the intellectual capacity or interest, or experience to do so, turn towards guru’s of science, spirit or others to tell them what to believe.
In turn, individuals create new forms of conformance in systems that are potentially less tested by millennia.
