For years it has been foundationally accepted that in the period shortly after the formation of the earth, the planet was bombarded by meteorites. This cataclysmic event would have been so destructive that it would have served as a “fresh start” for the planet, in that no life could have survived. So, the oldest life on earth must’ve originated after this period.

The evidence for the Late Heavy Bombardment came from argon isotopes from collected Moon rocks. However recent studies have shown that the collection of these rocks were biased to a specific isotope and region of the Moon, casting doubt on any conclusions drawn from the rocks.

Furthermore, on Earth and Mars, there is very little evidence of this period occuring in the time period suggested.

It is yet another example of how seemingly valid and widely accepted science, which other theories are built off, actually misleads experts and contributes to a culture of closed mindedness.
