Living standards in the past meant that our homes, where often not the place that it was most enjoyable to spend our time. Sanitary standards and overcrowded urban environments pushed people out into the street and pubs and cafes.
Now, with no strong reason to leave one’s home, the social hubs of a city lose their pull, and we as citizens lose the social experiences that come with them.
